In-Home Parent Education
These unique in-home parent education programs are effective because it allows customized lessons to parents in their homes. After a new parenting skill is taught and discussed, home practice exercises are assigned to strengthen family relationships and increase life skills. Our goal is to prevent and alleviate the risk of child abuse and neglect while strengthening family relationships and increasing life skills.
Nurturing Skills for Parenting
Details:
- For parents and caregivers of children ages 0-5
- Learn about your child’s brain development and age-appropriate expectations, healthy parent and child bonding, and communicating thoughts and feelings
- 7-week in-home parent education
- Hands-on coaching using evidence-based curriculum
- Choose the lessons that apply to your family
- Certificate of complete when program is completed
- No income requirements
- No referral needed
- No waitlist
- Must live in Ogden
DCFS Referral Required
Parents referred by the Department of Child & Family Services receive in-home parent education and hands-on coaching by our highly trained In-Home Educators. Parents have weekly meetings, over the course of four months. Our In-Home Educators cover the entire Northern Utah Region from North Salt Lake to the Idaho border.
Peer Parenting
Details:
- For parents and caregivers of children ages 0-17
- Focuses on improving parent-child relationships, lessons on emotions, coping, parent response, etc.
- Weekly in-home parent education and hands on coaching
- Customized lessons chosen by parents
- 4+ months, depending on parent involvement
- Ideally taken before trial home placements to better prepare parents for the return of their children
SafeCare
Details:
- For parents and caregivers of children ages 0-5
- Preventative based lessons focusing on safety, health, nutrition, etc.
- Weekly in-home parent education and hands on coaching
- Customized lessons chosen by parents
- 4+ months, depending on parent involvment
- Ideally taken before trial home placements to better prepare parents for the return of their children
